Argument Trees

MEDIUM
Printout/document

CONTENT
This one-page document outlines a “mind map”-style practice by which writers can visualize and structure their argument on its own, isolated from any paragraphic writing. The document itself is written for a high school audience, but the practice scales incredibly well, from middle school to undergrad and beyond.

HISTORY
The “Argument Tree” practice was originally designed to help middle schoolers understand the nature of supporting claims, but it was quickly adopted by upper school classrooms as well.
